15 (Suitable only for 15 years and over)
No one younger than 15 may see a ‘15’ film in a cinema. No one younger than 15 may rent or buy a ‘15’ rated video work.
Examples include "The Expendables", "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" and "Borat".
Some films that have been originally classified a 15, but were produced to appeal to a more accessible audience of families, have been edited down to achieve a 12A classification and therefore a wider audience. Examples include The Hunger Games, Taken 2 and The Woman In Black, which is interesting as they were all released in 2012, perhaps suggesting a more obvious attempt by movie studios to make their films as accessible as possible to achieve a larger box office, as the most successful films of recent years have been classified 12A or PG-13 (the US equivalent).
