Mood Board #12: Director - ALFONSO CUARON

One of my favourite film directors is the Mexican-born Alfonso Cuaron, who has famously directed the third Harry Potter and the upcoming sci-fi film Gravity, which has received almost universal praise. However his seminal work is the dystopia thriller Children of Men, which is a masterpiece both creatively and technically, with the stand-out sequences being those which appear to be shot as a single take (with some computer trickery done to conceal any cuts). This technique gives it a sense of heightened realism and is, especially in the case of the below car scene, something we would definitely want to experiment with in a brief sequence in our trailer, for instance the end-stinger in which we hope to have a car chase shot (or appear to be shot) in a single take.
